CHIEF (RET.) DOUGLAS L. KNOBLAUCH OBITUARY

Douglas L. Knoblauch, 67, of Bern Twp., passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Kathy A. (Gross) Knoblauch. They were married June 4, 1977 and celebrated 45 years of marriage. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Forrest L. and Patricia I. (Owens) Knoblauch. He graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1973; and later from Pennsylvania State Police Academy, Hershey, in 1982. Doug was a member of Grace Church, Shillington. Doug served as a Bern Township Police officer from 1982 until retirement in 2012. He was promoted to sergeant in 1993, and served as Police Chief from 2001 to 2012. During retirement, Doug enjoyed driving a school bus for Eshelman in the Schuylkill Valley School District, he especially enjoyed being able to drive his grandchildren to school on the bus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and coaching. He also enjoyed traveling to the beach in Delaware, and Wellsboro for Dickens Christmas. Doug loved to spend time near the pool with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife is a son: Joshua A. Knoblauch, Ontelaunee Twp.; a daughter: Kasey A. (Knoblauch) Hahn, wife of Brad S., Leesport; three grandchildren: Lukas and Noah Hahn, and Madison Knoblauch; and a brother: Glenn R., husband of Janet C. (Catalan) Knoblauch, Wernersville. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 3:30 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to: Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
